At the Hospital

Our stay at the hospital was very......calm. quiet. the antithesis of our hospital stay with the twins. I told Ryan I was kind of sad sometimes that we didn't have lots of visitors and people to come see us like we did in Raleigh. But It truly was a quiet, peaceful time we could enjoy and prepare for the chaos of home. First, little man Easton fully cooperated in making our stay enjoyable. The night I delivered him, he nursed FANTASTIC. I was so thankful we seemed to have a baby who "got it." Then he fell asleep. And he slept....and slept....and slept. He probably went a solid 20 hours or so without waking up enough to eat more than 5 minutes or so. Oh, the difference in your first and second babies....I didn't really worry about it. If he was hungry, he would wake up and eat!

I told the nurses about his super slumber and how we noticed he was "gagging" and acting like he was trying to spit up. The nurses said they had been watching him in the nursery too because of his choking/coughing. Then they explained why. Turns out, when babies are born fast (as in hardly in the birth canal at all!) then all of the amniotic fluid in their tummies is not pushed out during the birthing process. Poor fellow flew out so fast he still had a tummy full of amnio fluid. That is what he was trying to spit up and that is why his tummy felt full without nursing. Either way, they said not to worry too much as long as he "woke up" around 48-72 hours old. So...we just snuggled and enjoyed our sleeping baby!

We had to do a bit more logistical planning for my mom to come up to the hospital since she was the only one up here watching the twins. She got to come up and snuggle with E while Ryan stayed home and napped with the twins....I'd say that was a win-win for everyone :)

After nap time, Ryan brought my first babies up to visit! And yes, it was that cold. I missed them so much, it was fun having them for a visit. Thank God I bought some stickers for them to play with. Huge hit! They were not too sure about Easton during their stay. They didn't want to touch him or really have anything to do with him.

We did manage to get our first family picture as 5. So thankful....

Something of note: The hospital up here was very persistent in asking me about getting my Pertussis vaccine. Is this something new? I didn't hear about it in NC and never heard about it when the twins were born! Anyway, they kept talking about it over and over so I went ahead and said sure, give it to me. They said it was combined with Tetanus which my mom reminded me would make my arm sore. So...thinking ahead....I asked them to put it in my left arm...you know, just in case. Well, the rest of this story will come later but for now,  heed my words: DO NOT GET THE PERTUSSIS VACCINE RIGHT AFTER YOU HAVE A BABY!! (or in my case....never, ever get it period. I certainly will take my chances on catching Whooping Cough from here on out).

Stop, Stop, Stop it. So precious!

We packed up and asked to be discharged on Sunday morning. We were packed up and headed home 36 hours after Easton joined us. Again, oh the difference in your subsequent children! haha

Yes, we have already introduced the lifesaving Wubbanub. Easton did great in the car ride home...he appears to love his carseat -falls asleep every time. yea!

Ryan got mega brownie points and went ahead and ordered Easton's initial and birthstone for my necklace. I asked him what he would have done if E had come 2 days earlier...in October (a different birthstone)...he said he honestly didn't even think of it! Bless his heart. Anyway, I LOVE it. So proud of all of my babies.

So that was our calm, easy hospital stay. Easton was not sent back to us from the nursery due to him being "inconsolable" (refer to Jenna/Caden's birth story - yes that happened). I did not and still have not had my ultimate breakdown in front of everyone. There was no desperate call for the lactation consultant to teach my baby how to nurse. In other words....lots of grace :)

Easton's Birth Story

Now that college basketball is on, there is more sitting around on the couch watching tv (when I should be sleeping) going on around here....perfect time to catch up on blogging, right? Well, just as I wrote in one of the previous posts', Easton's birth story lived up to my expectation of being completely different from the twins, like nothing I had experienced before. Can I just stop here and say how thankful I am that he is HERE and not still cooking in the tummy? I feel so.much.better. now that he is out, preeclempsia is gone, etc....

Ok, back to the story...compliments of Ryan's impeccable time and note keeping. :)

10:00 am - We were scheduled for a 10:00 am induction because my blood pressure continued to rise that week and my proteins had jumped to a very high level. I slept like a CHAMP the night before knowing it was the last night I would be in that "condition." :) My mom had successfully made it up Columbus after changing her flight twice, so we all had a nice breakfast and soaked up our time with the twins. We snapped some last twin-with-mommy's-huge-tummy pics. These are so special to me (despite the hugeness and puffyness and swelling..ick)...the twins don't know it, but they had to sacrifice alot too throughout this pregnancy. I felt like a lazy, inadequate mom alot of days just laying around in the beginning being so sick and laying around at the end being sick again with the preeclempsia. Thank the LORD they had each other to play with - yes it made it hard having two so young, but it was hands down God's sovereignty that they had each other.

We didn't get to the hospital until 10:10 (oops), but was told upon arrival that things were running behind an hour, maybe two, due to some emergencies that morning. No problem, we thought, we would just hang out in the waiting room and soak up the quiet.

3:00 pm - yes, read that again. THREE PM we are called and set up in our room. They had SO many emergencies ongoing through the day that we sat there almost all day. I was so ready to get this baby OUT, but completely understood the reason for our wait. Dad after Dad kept coming into the waiting room with scrubs on to tell their family they were having to roll back to the OR for a C Section....and Dad after Dad would come back in to announce that everything went well and show off pictures to the waiting families. Anyway, we caught up on emails, watched the Price is Right (woop!), ate through ALL of the snacks I had packed, and paced the halls (me). We got in the room and they immediately hooked up my IV's and Pitocin. I was still at 3 cm and having contractions on and off.

4:30 - they check me and I'm only 4 cm! All that time and only 1 cm progressed! I'm not too happy, but ok. My blood pressure is higher than they like so they make me lie on my left side which brings it back down. So....on my left side it is for my labor! Me and Ryan laughed because just like the twins, I can't tell when I'm having contractions again! We have to look at the monitor to tell if I'm having a real contraction or not.

5:30 pm - Still 4 cm! OK, I'm not happy at all! With the twins, I flew from 3 - 10 cm quickly so I was expecting the same or faster with Pitocin pumping through me! I practice trying to feel the contractions and start getting better at it. Nothing painful yet even though they are coming 4 minutes apart.

6:30 pm - We decide to break my water to get things going. The nurse said she expected things to go fast once my water was broken and due to my history with the twins' delivery so she recommended I go ahead and get an epidural if I wanted one. They were still swamped with babies and emergency C sections so it might be better to go ahead and get one while I was comfortable in case it took a while for Anesthesiology to get to my room. So all of this happened together: they broke my water and gave me an epidural. The poor guy had been working all day, c section after c section, epidural after epidural but he was great and did his best to calm me down. Again, this is when I freaked out the most - getting that silly epidural. The contractions didn't bother me, but I was way to scaredy-cat to push for an hour like I did with the twins, without one.  I'm still alternating between my left and right sides to keep the blood pressure down. Ryan goes down to the cafeteria to get some food and sneaks me some mozzarella sticks. They were HEAVENLY! yum.

8:00 pm - I'm only 5. tiny. centimeters. Are you kidding me? I get really discouraged at this point. My labor with the twins was 6 hours....we were already to the 5 hour point with Easton and I was only 5 cm? The nurses keep telling me that a centimeter an hour was good and that things were progressing. I didn't want to hear that! Ryan heard the nurse say I couldn't eat anymore now that I had my epidural in and wouldn't let me eat my snickers I had snuck in. I ultimately won that battle and enjoyed my candy bar :)

8:50 pm- I'm up to 6 cm.....I was hoping she would say complete! Or at least a 8-9, but no... a measly 6. I text my mom and some friends that I'm getting discouraged at this point. I did have some sweet reminders and encouragement sent to me throughout the day though...

9:30 pm - They say I'm a 6, maybe 7 cm. Oh my word....I was convinced I would have a baby by dinner when I thought we were being induced at 10:00 am, now I might not even have this baby on this day!!!! Not a happy Casey, folks. My contractions are like 2 minutes apart and have been...why isn't anything happening!?

10:15 pm - hhhmmmm a couple of contractions were very strong...as in strong enough for me to feel! That was unusual so she checked me and said I was an 8! At this point.... the world started caving in, folks. I was feeling strong, strong contractions really close together that I couldn't talk through.

10: 30 pm - they check me and say I'm a 9 cm, but baby is still high. Maybe we should call my doctor (she had gone home to wait until they called her since she had been on call so long). Within 1 minute, maybe 2 contractions, everything changed. All of a sudden I felt the most painful contractions I've ever felt! You can't convince me I had an epidural in because this pain was so clear and unlike ANYTHING I felt with the twins. I keep saying that something is happening, something was changing! From this point on, it felt like everything happened in a matter of seconds. I tell my nurse that I need to push...now! She tells me not to push if I want my Doctor to make it to the hospital. I tell them I'm not pushing...my body is pushing him out for me! At one point, 2 other nurses come in quickly and hook me up to oxygen saying the baby's heartbeat dropped and stayed down.

This picture is HILARIOUS to me....at first I didn't think anything of it, but then I caught a glimpse of the clock...and the time....this was when everything was chaos in the room! Ryan must have hit the button in the chaos of the moment. So funny!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the lower half of my body is being sawed off it hurts so bad! The nurses were busy moving around the room getting things ready all while I feel like Easton is coming out on his own...whether I push or not. The nurses kept asking me if I wanted to wait and not push to give Doctor Ananth time to get there. I'm not even sure I answered them because the pain was so much and so constant! I remember saying that I wasn't pushing...he was just coming out on his own! They must have checked me and seen I was not kidding.

10:50pm - They call some Resident doctor in who must have been close in the hallway, put his scrubs on him, he sat down, I pushed once and Easton's head was out. I didn't even wait for another contraction and pushed again and all of a sudden, they plop a BABY on my chest! WHAT? I pushed an hour for Jenna and another hour for Caden...how in world could he be here in less than a minute? I kept praising Jesus over and over that he was out and it was over. Easton was so quiet, no crying, no screaming. Ryan cut the cord (he didn't get to do this with the twins) and they took Easton to his warming bed in the corner and worked on him. This was also new to us! They kept him in the room with us the whole time they worked on him and cleaned him up instead of being whisked away like the twins were. I heard Easton cry for maybe a minute, then quiet as a mouse again. So all in all, I went from 8 cm to a baby on my chest in 20 furiously fast minutes. Thank you merciful Jesus! Oh, and by the way, as my Doctor walked in is when Easton was delivered. So she gets credit for being in the room, but mystery resident guy gets the credit for delivering my sweet Easton.

I got to hold Easton skin-to-skin which was absolute heaven! How fun is that? It was certainly a different experience than the twins. We sent our texts out and enjoyed snuggling with Easton. I tried nursing him about an hour after he was born and he took right to it! No teaching him anything, no fighting....awesome!

We were SHOCKED when they said he was 7 lb 10 oz....that is HUGE for us! Somehow I got off track in how far along I was...the hospital has him born at 37 weeks 6 days. And my goodness, he was so long compared to my preemie twins - 20.5 inches! He was absolutely perfect, no problems at all. As soon as I delivered the placenta (sorry if that is gross!) then sure enough my blood pressure went down and has stayed down ever since. (Delivering the placenta is the only cure for preeclempsia). I was so overwhelmed my entire hospital stay at how gracious God had been. He carried me through such a difficult pregnancy and allowed Easton to come safely and yes...ultimately, very quickly. More to come on our hospital stay and our first days at home as a party of five.

So glad you are here now Easton! What a bundle of pure joy you are!

"Yeeeessssssss"

BLESS HIS HEART. Love this little boy. Appears we have already ingrained in him a sense of competition and self-drive. (ha! in some areas....not ALL!) Notice there is no need for mommy to validate or celebrate the accomplishment here....

Safe and Sound

Easton Jude
7lb 10 oz
20.5 inches
November 2, 2012
10:50 pm

Can’t believe you’re here now
Tiny dream come true
The answer to a prayer now
I’m so in love with you
Couldn’t wait to meet you
Hope you like your name
I get the funny feeling
Life will never be the same

Safe and sound
You’re here with me now
Like I hoped you’d be
Safe and sound
You’re here with me now
And that’s all I’ll ever need

The world’s a scary place here
But baby it’s alright
I’ll make sure the coast is clear
So you can just sleep tight
But if you’re afraid of monsters
Like everybody is
I’ll be right beside you
Closer than a kiss

Safe and sound
I’m here with you now
And you will always be
Safe and sound
I’m here with you now
And that’s all you’ll ever need

Someday I’m gonna teach you
The reason why we pray
So that heaven’s love may reach you
Every single day
So, baby close your eyes now
And say a prayer with me
Lord, I lay me down to sleep now
But I know I will be

Safe and sound
You’re here with us now
And we will always be
Safe and sound You’re here with us now
And that’s all we’ll ever, all we’ll ever need
You’re all we’ll ever need

Jenna and Caden : 2 years old

(NOTE: no, I am not on top of my game this much to post this while having a baby yesterday. One of the many nights I couldn't sleep, I went ahead and scheduled like 10 posts all through Oct and Nov...this is one of them :) I'm probably burping, changing, nursing a baby or hopefully sleeping as this posts :) )

How can my 5lb babies be TWO? That seems so old, so toddler! I am thoroughly enjoying this experience of learning to love the new, evolving characteristics and situations that form my children. They have changed so much in a year...really in just a few short months! I don't quite know how I feel about the "terrible two's" .... times two :)....because we sure had a ROUGH spring/summer with Caden. Maybe he just got his out of the way earlier so I can concentrate on Sassy Jenna whenever it hits her. Yes, I'll just take that and run with it:) Anyway, Happy Birthday Jenna and Caden....what a journey we have been on the past year!

 Dear Caden,

"Oh the difference a year can make" would be your theme for the past year. A year ago today, you couldn't pull yourself up to stand, if you were lying on your back you couldn't sit up by yourself, you couldn't crawl and you certainly couldn't walk. We worked very hard with seemingly endless evaluations and appointments to find out how we could help you. You were diagnosed with Joint Hypermobility Syndrome...just a fancy way of saying you are very double jointed! ah-hah! Now it all makes sense! I'm so glad you were too young to remember those first few months after your "diagnosis." You would have thought Mommy was trying to kill you. But we worked and worked and worked and in no time you were meeting all of your milestones, moving around and LOVING your new-found freedom! You LOVE your braces that you still have. You will wear them until you are three. You are much more confident and comfortable when they are on. Your name means "fighter" and I can certainly say you have had to fight to do things that seem to come easy to Jenna...at least at this point in your lives. I'm so proud of your progress - we promise to keep working with you so you can do whatever you set your mind to do in your life.

You continued to be my perfect sleeper this year....THANK YOU, SON! We put you down for nap or bedtime and you may play around or talk to yourself, but you soothe yourself right to sleep and do NOT wake up. We laugh at your sleeping positions because you are in a different one each time we check on you, you drool like a camel, and....trying to think of a good way to put this.....let's just say your digestive system is most active while you are asleep. You 9 times out of 10 wake up with a diaper changed needed ASAP! phew! At night, we have developed a funny, CONCRETE sleeping routine. Caden always has to go to Ryan, turn the button on the sound machine and snuggle. We say "I love you" and he comes out says some funny combination of sounds that have the same syllables as "I love you." Prec!

Our current struggle with your development is your eating/nutrition. Around a year of age you stopped liking foods you previously loved. You would eat them as along as they had a fluid/sauce consistency on them. In fact, we put Ranch dressing on everything for a long time. Totally disgusting, but you ate it! Then, around 18 months (about the time we moved to Ohio) you stopped.eating.anything. We have spent the past 6 months going to evaluations, appointments, therapists, all sorts of fun people to try to help you learn to eat again. I wish you could remember this and tell mommy one day what happened. We are slowly getting you to eat more things...we are far from a balanced, good nutritional diet, but the fact you eat more things than just fruit and crackers is a major milestone for us right now!

You LOVE the outdoors...straight from your Daddy. No matter what is wrong: if your mad, sad, hurt, or sick, a trip outside will cure you instantly! You have a real gift for anything dealing with a ball. You love to throw, catch, roll, kick and just hold a ball. You have recently discovered choo-choo trains like any boy does. You love saying "choo-choo" over and over and over again. You are also slightly alarmingly obsessed with shoes. Any pair of shoes qualify, but you have a special allegiance to your choo-choo shoes that Aunt Alice bought you. You go straight for them in the morning saying "choo-choo shoes" over and over. You cling to them like a lovey stuffed animal and you freak OUT when the velcro comes undone. Thankfully you know how to fix them now and pop up, clap your hands and say "all better." I don't take this for granted, I know it would be more of a "problem" if you were the opposite and would never wear shoes...esp now that it is getting cold up here! And plus, you have to have shoes on to wear your ankle braces :)

Somehow, you get hurt all of the time. You are so active, yet so shaky sometimes in your ankles that you fly right into walls, toys, corners,  you name it! Your skin is so sensitive and pale that any little bump shoes up quickly.

Just like a ball, the other thing that seems to come much more natural to you is verbal skills. You love to talk and try to say new words. You are excellent at imitating the same number of syllables of the word we are trying to teach you. Even if the sound doesn't come out right...you have the correct number of syllables. It's precious. You can say several 3 and 4 word sentences such as "bye-bye big truck" and "shoot the ball." Our favorite words you say right now is "Octopus" (Op-i-top-i-ta) and "Alligator" (ah-ga-ga-ga), "Gross" (oh-groak) and "Truck" (truuuuch).

I love you little buddy! I often say that for all the times I want to cry and have to walk away from you at the dinner table out of frustration, I want to kiss your face every morning when you have slept through the night soundly.....so I do. :)  I know we will get through each stage as they come. You are a true joy, your smile is contagious, your perfect round face in a hat is ridiculously adorable and the way you run on your tip toes and grunt when your trying to climb up something is precious. Your teeth are so terribly crooked (sorry, that came from me!) and your hair is the strangest combination of straight, frizzy, course curly hair. Can't wait to see how much you grow and develop this next year!

Dear Jenna,

Oh my sassy thang. You are SOMETHING ELSE! There is no question that you are Baby A / the Dominant personality in the pair. I don't know how, but somehow you know that too already! You continue to grow and excel pretty much on time with everything. The biggest difference in you the past year is your looks...you look like a totally different little girl to me! You shot up tall this summer which makes your big, muscles appear thinner and your hair shot out long, thin as spaghetti and blondish brown! That is definitely not mommy's hair! You have one million faces and expressions all of which are adorable and hysterical.

Something terrible has happened to your sleep cycle the past month. All of a sudden you are waking mommy and daddy up  like 3-4 t imes a night! No maam! What in the world? We have tried a LIST of things to do to help you snap out of it, but baby brother is on his way fast so the time has come my dear...we are letting you cry / scream it out. You are cranky these days b/c your sleep is not as deep, but we will get through this too - we must. Your bedtime routine is that you must be with Mommy, and we turn off the light while the boys turn on the sound machine. We say I love you, Mommy her prayers over you and Caden, then by that time Easton is wiggling because your sitting on him so to the bed you go.

Just the opposite of brother: however you frustrate me in the sleep department, you more than make up in the eating department. You are so great to try anything I give you, you eat exactly how much you want - I never have to worry about you not getting enough or too full. You are strong as an oxe from eating so well! You can climb, pull up, push over, pick up, do just about anything you want.

Your major physical skill is jumping....a girl after mommy's heart. You have some mad ups, girl. You have been jumping with both feet off the ground for months, can jump forward to another "spot" on the carpet for example, and you can jump OFF tall things and land just fine (which makes mommy nervous.) You still "run" like a horse gallop which is hilarious and you always "jump stop" like in basketball when you have reached your destination. Hilarious girl! You fall down alot from all of your jumps, but you ALWAYS pop right back up, without evidence of the fall. You are one tough cookie.

I'm not quite sure what to do with your hair these days....it is long, stringy and resembles a mullet so we have to put it up in ponytails or pigtails. Your eyes are a very unique color which I love. You have a smile that will melt any frustration or anger we have when you disobey. You put your shoes on with brother in the morning, because you have to do anything he does (duh), but quickly shed the shoes and socks once we are downstairs 10 minutes later. Therefore, our house is littered with your shoes and socks everywhere!

You too LOVE the outdoors. You and your brother are the easiest kids in the world if your outside, running free. It is certainly when you are most happy. On the flip side, you are a TV / Movie loving girl! You sit right there and watch the entire episode without moving. (Your brother is still a mobile viewer, walking around the room, half playing with toys/half watching the movie).

You don't say as many words as your brother...at least not in the English language. You speak to him in some other language between the two of you that we don't understand. When you try to "repeat" a word we are teaching you....bless your heart....it just doesn't sound anything like what we are saying alot of the time :) You did learn "NO" first and taught your brother. Thanks :) You say the funny words I wrote about in Caden's letter and you say them the same way. Very cute.

I love you sweet girl. You are keeping me on my toes already - you bring so much adventure and excitement to our life. You are growing up way too fast so part of me does and part of me does not want to see how much you grow and develop the next year! You are so beautiful and we are proud to have you as our strong willed, sassy, never-dainty daughter!

Baby Easton Update

Highlights:

1- Who would have thought this singleton pregnancy would kick my butt like it has after such a non complicated multiple pregnancy?
2- My body is done, my brain is even MORE done with pregnancy
3- Bedrest is hard.
4- I'm having Easton this Friday - November 2nd!!! (if not before)

Now, for further details, if your interested....

Oh buddy, I can truly say that I have not once questioned why God put you in our family - maybe I've questioned circumstances surrounding it, but why you have made it this far, never. You have been a total shock, surprise, hard to figure out, blaze your own path kind of kid since the moment you were made. Most things dealing with your pregnancy have not been easy or expected for me. I have many times felt like this was my first pregnancy! I had many, many new symptoms of pregnancy that I never had with the twins (rough reflux, braxton hicks contractions,  morning sickness all day for 17 weeks!!). :( Of the symptoms that were the same, I had them more intensely, longer than I did with the twins (flu like/ cold symptoms in the morning, joints in my fingers popping out of joint from fluid, popping out like a water balloon so early). We have had new experiences together (like kidney's that stopped working, kidney stones, hospitalizations and now preeclempsia) that I would again, not call easier or better. But, my goodness, we have both made it to this point (37 weeks!!!!) where at least we know you will be strong and healthy. I will always have this hard pregnancy far away from home and help to look back on as assurance that you have one majorly important purpose in this world and in our family! :)

So last time I updated on here, I was "taking it easy" the weekend my sister and brother in law came up. The following week, I expected to hear raving reports at my OB since I was such a good little patient! Nope. Wrong Again. The Doctor told me horror stories of Preeclempsia and how dangerous it was to me and how I wouldn't know I was close to a stroke until it was too late...bla, bla, bla.....and then said the "b" word to me: bedrest. I explained I had 2yr old twins at home, a mom and mother-in-law 500 miles away and a husband who needed to work since that is why we are up in this place to begin with!!!! She didn't have any real stress-relieving options so I just sent some emails to friends asking them to pray for guidance and of course called our family members. They all offered to come running to the rescue as I knew they would...but we wanted to see how much we could handle on our own before using up our resources before Easton is even here! So we agreed I would let the twins rule the roost, pull out toys, the kitchen would be a mess, our laundry would measure up to Mt Kilimanjaro and I would just lay there. and lay there. And flip to the other side and lay there. Then switch couches/rooms and lay there. I can't believe I ended up on bedrest with this pregnancy too. So that is what we have done....it helped for about 2 weeks...my bp came down and my proteins stayed the same.

This guy is something else. He is just awesome. I told you all how he stepped up to AND beyond the plate when we had the twins. Most dads don't have to be "full time" from the start doing everything the mom is doing with their own baby in hand (feeding, changing, burping, bouncing, clothing etc...). He did so wonderfully, calmly, thankfully and encouragingly. (that's alot of "ly" words, huh?) Anyway, if I bear the burden of bedrest so does he. He works all day, comes home and does all of the housework plus twin duty you can think of....THEN he gets to work on my nesting list :) Love him. Love him!

So that catches us up to now....on Saturday, I barely left the couch...I felt HORRIBLE. At one point, I wondered if I was in labor / back labor / something! I felt much different all of a sudden - very puffy, very swollen, strong headaches and indescribable fatigue. I even fell asleep while I was home with the twins by myself...NOT good and something I would NEVER do if I was 100%. Well, on Monday at my appointment, she checked me and I was almost 3 cm....hmmmm so something was happening! I have been having stress tests every other day for about a week and a half now and while Easton has looked great on them, I've been contracting on them too. hmmmm ok. Then she pulled up my labs that had been sent off over the weekend. Yep..my proteins had jumped from 211 to 292. NOT good. Basically, at 300, you are sent straight to the hospital to be monitored and possibly induced on the spot. Oh geez. So I have the preeclempsia we tried to avoid, the bedrest isn't working anymore and apparently my Doc doesn't play around with this. She said, "time to induce, pick your day." I asked some quick questions like "is Easton big enough? are his lungs developed enough at 37 weeks etc..." She said the quick answer was "yes" but the real answer was it didn't matter...I was headed towards a bad condition and she was not going to sit around and let me get sick just waiting. She probably would have preferred me go as early as Wed, but I explained I HAD to get help up here and the storm was causing some flight issues where my help was coming from on the East Coast. So....we agreed to Friday at 10 am!

My mom moved her ticket up from next Monday the 5th to this Wed the 31st ( I secretly think it had to do with her having to see the twins in their adorable superman/superwoman costumes hehe)...but they had her going through Baltimore. Ummm Baltimore airport is closed thanks to our friend Sandy. So, long story short, about 10pm last night she got a new ticket going through another airport so she will be here Wed night. Hallelujah! Just as He always has...Jesus worked it all out. Now, we are getting ready to have this little miracle rascal join us!

I'm so.very. thankful that we are as healthy and far along as we are. We have had some scary moments from the very beginning. I have accepted the fact that God just didn't make my body to be pregnant without major bumps and major faith testing. I'm ok with that. He didn't heal things to be a easy, carefree, "glowing", expectant time for me...but He has given me two gorgeous kids already and a very didn't-think-it-would-happen miracle coming up on Friday. My body is tired from having 3 kids in 2 years and my mind is ...well, it is just done with wrestling with getting pregnant, staying pregnant etc... I say all of that to be real, but I also say it delicately. You must understand I thank God literally and continually for allowing me to even carry a child...no matter how hard it is, how hard he has been kicking my right side ribs :), etc... I have my hand on my stomach pretty much all of the time soaking up his movements and being grateful for them. It makes NO sense to me why parenthood had to be such an incredible roller coaster of highs and lows for us, but I know I for one learned some pretty stellar lessons I otherwise would not have.

I'll be 38 weeks exactly on Friday....pregnant one week and one day longer than I was with the twins - CRAZY! I'm sitting at 35 lbs gained....a good 8-10 of which is fluid I gained in one week! Boooo preeclempsia! I'm amazed that my belly was as big as it was with the twins. I'm a solid 6 inches smaller around than I was with the twins at delivery. sheesh! It's hilarious how unprepared I am for Easton as opposed to the twins. His nursery isn't finished, I don't have near enough diapers stocked, carseat isn't in a car, I just packed my bag last night and so on... I knew I would be on bedrest with the twins so everything was done by 33 weeks or so! I thought I had some time with this little guy. Ha- surprise again! He has a place to sleep, some diapers and clothes washed....we will make it!

So....pray for us! The doctor thinks things should go well, smooth and quickly on Friday looking at how my delivery went with the twins so fast. I'm not quite in agreement...what makes you think that this child -  a surprise, complicated pregnancy will go smooth, as planned, calm etc... haha! Wouldn't that be some serious irony? Anyway, thanks for your support even from far away! Hope to post some pics of what is sure to be one handsome little boy this weekend!

My view these days....

Movie Monday : Masked Jenna

What am I going to do with her? Serious question ! I walked in to find Jenna like this after nap time....

And let me set you up with some things to watch for: those are her pajama pants over her face. Notice halfway through, the debacle she finds herself in when she is trying to put her paci in her pajama pants-covered mouth :) This too was from much earlier in the summer since the Catepillar paci has passed on now too.

Aunt Robin's Gymnastics Academy

oh my word. Even if you guys don't know my sister very well....PLEASE watch these videos. Seriously funny stuff. This was when we were down in NC playing around. If you know my sister at all you know that Gymnastics was NEVER in her future (any of us Thompson girls really) so it's hilarious that she is so into it here. And yes while Jenna has some mad jumps, I think she is lacking the "graceful artistry" and "fluidity" that a Gymnast requires :)

The first video is the Beginner level.

This video is the advanced class and advanced sass. You will see Jenna does NOT like her routine interrupted. Let's all rate Aunt Robin's form on this one too :)
